Mr.Jostas is a PHE Champion and public health leader with over 12 years of experience, he established a functional PHE learning site in Kasese, Uganda for the Albertine region, PHE seeks to address the complex connections between humans, their health and economic wellbeing, and the environment, integrated programs are cost-effective and key to achieving sustainable development goals.
Raymond Ruyoka
As a Public Health Specialist, I have more than 10 years of experience in Population, Health, and Environment. I have championed integrating PHE into national, regional, and global development processes and coordinate more than 200 NGOs/CSOs in East Africa to jointly implement youth programs on integrating environment, economic empowerment, and reproductive health in Uganda, in the Great Lakes region, and Africa at large.

Everyone and everything on our planet is interconnected and I believe we must work together to address the issues that affect us all. As a sexual and reproductive health and rights advocate, I have particular expertise in developing programmes to address women’s unmet need for family planning. I am also passionate about the interconnections between human and ecosystem health and build diverse partnerships to work at this critical intersection.

PHE approaches formulate effective interventions towards ensuring the health of the people and the environment are optimum.
DR. JOAN CASTRO
A medical doctor, an environmentalist and a public health worker for over 20 years promoting the Population, Health and Environment (PHE) approach, I have provided leadership-technical oversight for integrated PHE programs in Asia and Africa and actively participate in cross-portfolio learning initiatives, such as the BUILD Program, a global population, environment and development (PED) program that promote PED and generate evidence on the added value of integration.
